The focus of this service day will be working on the kitchen ceiling, sanding and repairing the historic mess hall tables and benches.  If you have carpenter skills, we will also work on re hinging the window screens.  Weather permitting, we will also polyurethane tables and benches.

Help us restore Sycamore Mess Hall so it can be open for public use for the first time in almost 30 years. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) and Works Progress Administration (WPA), The Sycamore Mess Hall first opened to the public in 1937.

Guarantee you will feel a great sense of satisfaction after what you accomplish on this work day!

The Umstead Coalition will provide lunch, snacks and water.

We will have gloves.  Dress appropriate for painting, scraping, and cleaning.  Service day goes rain or shine, warm or cold.

We recognize you may only be able to attend for part of the day -- we'd love to have help for whatever time you can participate.

Note:  we cross post this event at a couple event managers. We anticipate about 10 to 20 volunteers.
