Musical March for Umstead

JOIN US ON SATURDAY APRIL 22, 2000
CELEBRATE THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF EARTH DAY

by the Umstead Coalition and the Sierra Club Challenge to Sprawl Campaign

A March for Parks Event
The Musical March for Umstead is a community event for the appreciation, use, and preservation of Umstead State Park and the Richland Creek natural area. Join us for a beautiful day filled with:

  • Educational exhibits
  • Free Food
  • 5K Run/Walk for Umstead
  • Music
  • Hourly drawings for Door prizes
  • Awards for the top Fundraisers (Adult, Child under 12, Team, etc.)

MAIN STAGE

2:45 p.m. - Awards from Great Outdoor Provision Company for highest
pledge winners

2:45 - 3:45 Panther Branch Boys

4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Bruce Emery and Laura Ridgeway

PLUS, throughout afternoon, many great door prizes will be given away
(from Sierra Club, Cup-A-Joes, News and Observer, Earth Touch
Organics Lawn Care, and much more).

Puppet Stage
2:30 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. NCSU Lorax Environmental Club's puppet show

2:45  p.m. Optional Wildflower hike, leaving from the 'walk start'
position, announced from main stage.

  • Lots of other surprises to be announced
  • Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash at ALL times.
  • Parking is available in Marked spaces along Trenton and Reedy Creek Road.

    Admission: Walk/run applications are available at Triangle area Great Outdoor Provision Company Stores. Minimum donation: $25. Children under twelve must be accompanied by an adult.

    Schedule

    9-10am Sign in at registration desk, turn in money and pledge forms, and pick up March materials.

    10-12:30p Walk or run on the Musical trail.

    11-5pm Celebration: food, live music, and environmental exhibits. Hourly drawings for door prizes.
